Asset Independent Financial Advisors Ltd were a financial advice firm based in Hull.
They also traded as Asset Independent Mortgages, Asset Mortgages, Asset IFA, Asset Independent, Home Estates and B J Fennell Financial Services.
Previous names, according to the FCA register, include Malcolm Cuthbert (Sales Solutions) Ltd, Cadde Cuthbert and Grosvenor Cuthbert
Asset Independent Financial Advisors Ltd worked with several Appointed Representatives including Assetz Wealth Limited, Cooper Swift Ltd, Creative Wealth Solutions Ltd, First State Independent, Financial Advisers Limited and Kirk Ella Investments Ltd.
Pension Connect were an introducer company whom Asset Independent Financial Advisors Ltd are believed to have had dealings with.
Pension Connect was reportedly set up by former employees of First Review Pension Services who hit the headlines in 2017 after an under-cover Panorama documentary exposed the practices at their sister company Lifestyle Connections. According to the programme they were heavily involved in promoting The Resort Group investment using free pension reviews. This led to a campaign and subsequent ban on cold calling.
The Resort Group has been mis-sold to many SIPP investors.
In 2018 Asset Independent were told by the FCA to “immediately cease all regulated investment activities for customers introduced by unauthorised introducers and/or the Firm’s Introducer Appointed Representatives (“IAR”)” pending a section 166 review. Which means an approved skilled person must review their activities.
They were also ordered to “immediately terminate relationships with all unauthorised introducers”
Asset Independent Financial Advisors Ltd were declared in default by the FSCS in February 2020 and it was reported at the time 150 complaints had already been made to the lifeboat organisation. They are currently in liquidation.
