PWH Financial Planning Ltd was a financial advice firm based in Leeds.
It also traded as WGN Wealth Management and Worsley Wealth Management.
The firm is now dissolved and was declared in default by the FSCS in December 2021.
PWH Financial Planning Ltd is one of several advice firm associated with claims regarding the British Steel Pension Scheme (BSPS).
In 2017, BSPS members had to make decisions about their pensions as part of a restructure of the scheme.
Many members were advised to transfer into a private pension arrangement or Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP).
Around 8,000 members transferred with a collective value worth nearly £2.8bn.
Unfortunately, this advice was not the best advice for most scheme members.
By transferring from a Defined Benefit (DB) pension, like BSPS, into a private pension arrangement many would have lost the benefits they had built up in the British Steel Pension Scheme.
To achieve the same level of benefits from their new plan may not have been realistic.
Many members are now seeking compensation for mis-selling due to this unsuitable pension transfer advice.
The FSCS confirmed that they had received six claims against the firm which related to pension transfers.
